Event Description

Rock art is one of the world’s oldest and most powerful forms of cultural expression - and Australia is home to some of the richest and most diverse examples.

Join Dr Helen Green, a Rock Art Australia Research Fellow, for an inspiring talk exploring the stories, science, and significance of this extraordinary heritage.

Spanning more than 10,000 years, Australia’s rock art reflects deep connections to Country, traditional knowledge systems, spiritual beliefs, and the lived experiences of First Nations peoples. Dr Hamilton will share how Rock Art Australia works in close partnership with Traditional Owners and leading scientists to research, preserve, and share these artworks with respect and integrity.

With decades of experience in cultural heritage preservation across Museums Victoria, Arts Centre Melbourne, and beyond, Samantha brings both expertise and a deep commitment to supporting self-determined cultural outcomes for Aboriginal communities.
