Event Description
Experience local history like never before. Join Kingston Libraries’ Heritage Specialist for a guided walk through 10,000 years of Mordialloc and Kingston coastline history.
Starting at Peter Scullin Reserve, we'll walk less than 500 metres while exploring the stories, people and places that have shaped the area. Beginning at the Macdonald Homestead marker, we'll make our way to the beautiful rotunda, built in 1925, where you'll enjoy a cuppa and hear a story. Here, we'll read a Boon Wurrung story that has been written down for the first time after 10,000 years of oral tradition.
We'll finish our walk at the mouth of Mordialloc Creek, discussing the lifecycle of eels and why it remains significant today.
Important information
Participants must be able to walk 500 metres and climb a set of stairs unaided.
Time: 10.30am start
Meeting point: Peter Scullin Reserve sign, Beach Road.
Please bring a raincoat or umbrella in case of inclement weather.
