Event Description

Discover how generative AI is transforming our world, now accessible to anyone with a phone or computer.

This event will introduce you to the basics of generative AI, including prompt engineering, and explore both its exciting opportunities and pressing concerns-such as threats to artists, risks of cognitive decline, and the widening digital divide.

Jeannie Marie Paterson is a Professor of Law specialising in private law (contract and tort), consumer protection and regulatory design (including regulating AI in consumer facing contexts).

Jeannie is the co-founding director of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Ethics (CAIDE). CAIDE is a cross disciplinary teaching, research and policy centre established by the University of Melbourne and the Faculties of Law, Engineering and Medicine, with support from Arts and Education.

Jeannie’s current research projects cover misleading AI (incl deep fakes and misinformation), regulating AI agents, companions and assistants, and AI in the civil justice system.

Join us for an engaging talk and interactive Q&A to better understand the impact of AI on individuals, society, and democratic institutions.

Don’t miss this chance to learn and ask your questions about the future of technology!
