How do we decide what to include in our heritage collection and what to reject?

‘Significance’ is an essential part of managing any cultural collection. It can help guide decisions for what to include and what to reject, as well as provide a greater understanding of a single object or an entire collection.

Kingston’s Heritage Specialist, Monica Cronin, and Deakin University’s Dr Lorinda Cramer will join forces to deliver a workshop investigating ‘significance’ and how to apply it to cultural collections.

In this workshop you’ll learn about the criteria for determining significance and how to apply them, hear some examples of significance assessments, and in a final exercise, develop a short statement of significance.

Participants are encouraged to bring a small object to help them complete the exercise.
