Event Description

With breathtaking honesty and fierce wit, Eloise Grills turns her life, her body and her mind into art in "big beautiful female theory", confronting what it means to grow up in an increasingly unfathomable world. Hear from Grills as she reflects on her ‘blistering, fearless manifesto’ (Ellena Savage). With Sam van Zweden.

Eloise Grills is a writer, comics artist and poet. She writes and paints about bodies, mental health and being generally unhinged. Her nonfiction has received the Melbourne Prize for Writers, The Lifted Brow Experimental Nonfiction Prize and the Woollahra Digital Literary Prize. "big beautiful female theory", her first illustrated memoir, is out now.

Sam van Zweden is a Melbourne-based writer interested in memory, food, mental health and the body. Her debut book, "Eating with my Mouth Open", won the 2019 KYD Unpublished Manuscript Award, and is available now.
