Livestreamed from Sydney Writers’ Festival to Parkdale Library
Booker Prize–winning author Alan Hollinghurst returns with Our Evenings—a deeply moving portrait of a man’s life across decades of change, from the 1960s to today.
At its centre is Dave Win, who reflects on a life shaped by family, theatre, identity and heritage—from a boyhood in suburban England to a later-life journey into understanding his Burmese roots. With tenderness, wit and insight, Hollinghurst explores themes of race, class, sexuality and the search for belonging in a beautifully crafted narrative.
He’ll be in conversation with Georgina Godwin, reflecting on a lifetime of storytelling and the quiet complexities of self-discovery.
One of Australia’s most loved forums for literature, ideas and storytelling, Sydney Writers’ Festival will livestream its headline events from Sydney to Parkdale Library on Thursday 22 May and Friday 23 May.
Prepare to be invigorated and engaged by conversations, debates and discussions featuring some of the world’s finest writers and thinkers. Audiences can also participate in live Q&A sessions at each event, sending questions straight to the Sydney stage.
